Cercon is metal-free restoration with a zirconia-based framework. Zirconia frameworks exhibit the highest strength of any all-ceramic, while allowing conventional cementation. A clinical study at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, found Cercon bridges performed flawlessly for over three years without a single failure.
PREP REQUIREMENTS
Use typical all-ceramic preparation parameters: Chamfer or 90° rounded shoulder; 1.5 - 2.0 mm facial reduction, 2.0 mm flat occlusal reduction (no fossa prep), and no sharp angles. No bevels or deep shoulder preps. These are necessary to allow for best scanning capabilities. Chamfer Margins - Correct preparation of the chamfer margins interproximally allows the appropriate bulk of porcelain.
RECOMMENDED CEMENTATION
- Resin Ionomer cement (RelyX or RelyX Unicem, 3M ESPE)
- Maxcem Elite (Kerr)
- Panavia F 2.0 (Kuraray) -ideal for short, tapered preparations
- Glass ionomer cement (GC Fuji, GC America)
